As mentioned in last month’s blog, school’s almost out, and the family is gearing up for a fun summer vacation! The only question is where to go. So many considerations go into planning a family trip – how far you want to go, driving or flying, how much you can afford, and activities that each member of the family will enjoy. It’s kind of a give and take decision, trying to accommodate everyone. But it’s worth spending some quality time planning to come up with a trip that the whole family will look forward to.
If it’s a driving trip you’re opting for, we have so much to see and do all across the USA.
You may want to consider our beautiful national parks. There are 58 national parks in our country, so there are an incredible amount of choices. While Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, and Yosemite might be the first ones to come to mind, there are so many others that the whole family would enjoy. Mapquest has an entire list of all 58. You can click on each one, and it will take you to a full description of the park and what it has to offer, as well camping opportunities, hours, and fees.
Of course, there are many other exciting places within the states. Head out to either Disneyworld in Florida, or Disneyland in California and put on your “Mickey Ears”. While in California or Florida, check out Universal Studios new attraction, “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter”.
If it’s hiking you are into, Lake Tahoe has an abundance of trails, and the beauty of the area is breathtaking.
Another fun place is San Diego. Balboa Park, which is home to the famous San Diego Zoo, would make memories of a lifetime for the kids.
New York City is also a great getaway destination. Who wouldn’t enjoy a stroll through Central Park as part of their summer outing? The food, the entertainment, and the excitement in the city is acclaimed worldwide.
Another amazing idea for the whole family that combines water fun, entertainment for all ages, and great cuisine could be a cruise. Kids and mom and dad alike will be entertained all day long, either by on-board fun or ports of call.
If this is the year for real adventure, there are global destinations that will melt away any of your cares.
- European destinations, such as London, Paris, or Rome combine history with fun.
- Mexico has numerous, beautiful travel destinations and many of them are all-inclusive.
- Or, what a vacation Atlantis in the Bahamas would be. There’s Dolphin Cay and the “141 acre water park includes a mile-long river-tubing adventure, nine water slides, and 11 pools”!
